"Calvary greetings to all members of this great Church and all Christians in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I am pleased, on behalf of the Central Executive Council, to say happy Easter to you all Unificationists, home and abroad and Student and Graduate Members. As we are celebrating Easter, we should not rush past the crucification because Christ's broken body put an end to our brokenness. Christ, our Saviour, submitted His body to be crucified and made Himself a carcass (Mathew 24:28) so that the carcass in our lives and our caricature lives can be transformed into glorious ones. The essence of the crucifixion and resurrection is for us to be part of His Kingdom.
I wish to invite all Unificationists and the general public to the celebration of the KINGDOM event in our 2022 Annual International Convention / 42nd Anniversary of our great Church, Cherubim and Seraphim Church Unification Campus Fellowship. The convention which is tagged 'MUSTERION' 2022 and themed ‘’the Mystery of the Kingdom’’ will hold from 25th April to 1st May 2022 at Wasimi Site, along Ife Ibadan Road. You will surely experience divine visitation when you come.
Brethren, there is a need to address the recent development of the Love of Christ Generation Church (LOC) Campus Connect project which has generated various reactions. Please, be rest assured that the leadership of our Church is not complacent about the development. The CEC decided to engage the convener of the LOC Campus Connect and we have been able to do that on two different occasions. We sent a representative to meet with the Convener on Saturday, 2nd April 2022. I also have a phone conversation with her and our representative. We thought her statement implied that now she knew about Campus Fellowship, she would redirect her program to outside Campus. Despite her claim and our appeal, she insisted on going ahead with her evangelical programme at Yaba College of Technology. When we realised that our expectation was not met, a nine-man delegate visited her on Wenesday13th April 2022 for better discussion. She went straight to the point as she knew our mission. According to her, she did not know that we were meeting on campuses. She thought we only gathered together once a year for convention. As we were trying to make her see reasons with us, she said we should not think she would stop what she was doing because she was into evangelism drive that was not really targeted at our members but interdenominationally focused. She urged us to hype our evangelism and other possible strategies to retain our members.
On our side, we believed that such development should be a matter of concern to the entire Cherubim and Seraphim Church. As much as the new move is an evangelical drive, it brought confusion to our members that are supposed to participate in the fellowship taking place on campus. Any member of Campus Fellowship seeing buses on their campus, waiting to convey people to a Mother Church while a Sunday Service is going on on his campus where his participation is equally expected is automatically plunged into internal crisis.
We equally recognized that the juxtaposition of LOC Campus Connect and Campus Fellowship, with the reaction of the public within the limited time, signalized disunity within the Cherubim and Seraphim Church. Considering this, we cannot quickly forget that LOC openly and primarily preached the unity of Cherubim and Seraphim Church and subsequently the unity of white garment churches. , which came as a breath of fresh air for the Youths Fellowship of Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria that introduced LOC to the Campus Fellowship. We have been finding it difficult to strike the balance here.
At this juncture, we must however state unequivocally that the C&S Church Unification Campus Fellowship is not against the LOC or any of our Mother Churches - Eternal, The Society, Praying Band, Sacred, Movement, etc rather one of our objectives is to promote and present C&S Church as one body on campuses. We just imagine a scenario where we have The Eternal Sacred C&S Church (Hotonu), The Eternal Sacred C&S Church (Mount Zion), The C&S Church Society (Okesuna), The Praying Band Ijo Ita Balogun, Sacred C&S Church of Nigeria & Overseas, The Praying Band of Sacred C&S Church, The C&S Movement Church etc having such buses on a Campus on Sunday morning. We are very sure that none of us will be proud of the situation and the general public will not take us seriously. The proliferation will be a great de-marketing of the Church we all cherish and a disservice to the God of our father St. Moses Orimolade Tunolase.
The above situation is what the C&S Church Unification Campus Fellowship stands to prevent. Our approach is, upon gaining admission into any higher institution, we (our members) lay down our diversity/individuality at the entrance gate of the Campus, come together and worship in unison as C&S CHURCH. After graduation, we go back to our Mother Churches to make positive impacts based on the enlightenment we have received.
For instance, the prior year 1980, members of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church that gained admission into institutions of higher learning did NOT graduate as members but as enemies of the Church. There was no Cherubim and Seraphim Church in any of the higher institutions; hence members that were interested in fellowshipping while on campus joined other denominations and returned as the enemies of the Church while some never returned to the Church. The result was obvious, the dearth of Elites in the fold and stunted growth experienced within the fold. The visionary Leaders within the fold saw this danger and stood up with strong determination to avert it. Their determination gave birth to the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Unification Campus Fellowship in 1980. They were so selfless about it enough that they decided not to name the Church after their denomination or sect but “Unification” with the aim of accommodating every sect of Cherubim and Seraphim Church. Having established the Church, they handed it over to students to manage hitherto.
In line with this vision of unity, The Cherubim and Seraphim Church Unification Campus Fellowship becomes a conglomeration of Cherubim and Seraphim youths (without any sect barrier) in Institutions of Higher Learning (Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education) in Nigeria and beyond, worshipping together as united Seraphs without division. In pursuance of the above, the Church’s main aim is ''that all may be one'' (John 17 vs 21).
From its inception, The Unification Campus Fellowship has been a spiritual manufacturing industry producing raw materials for the use of different sects or denominations of her Mother Churches. This is vividly evidenced as most of the prominent vessels like Pastors, Prophets, evangelists, Teachers and Apostles in growing Mother Churches are products of Campus Fellowship. This claim is open for verification because it is not only true but also a statement of fact. I wish to emphasise that we continue to perform these functions without any distraction from anyone or anywhere.
Brethren, the current CEC has designed her three cardinal points that will be the pillars of programmes and they include; Evangelism, Intercessory Prayers and Site Development (EID). In line with these pillars, every zone is expected to come up with a program for Zonal Evangelism/Revival while Chapters should come with their in-house campus evangelism plans into the convention. The Steering Committee of each Chapter should ensure that they carefully watch over and guard the flock that the Lord has placed in their care. members are NOT allowed to go out with any bus not provided by the Chapter…..It is a rule, We have however since taken up the open challenge and informed all Chapters of the Campus Fellowship on the need to do more by being more intentional and strategic with Evangelism being the core pillar of our noble Church and St. Moses Orimolade Tunolase. Also, I want to emphasize that, as an internal measure, presidents of affected and neighbouring fellowships under the Unification Campus Fellowship umbrella have been properly advised of the situation and no Chapter is expected to do otherwise.
Moreover, each Chapter should make her closing prayers congregational and Hymn C & S 803, Stanza 3 (Jo ma jeki fitila Egbe yi ku) should be the focus point. We should also pray for the unity and growth of our Church. I also wish that Chapters should pray for the forthcoming convention particularly that God should bring His covenant on the convention into reality. God promised to heal all with terminal diseases and make the barren fruitful etc.
In conclusion, I still have the directive of CEC to urge you to remain fervent in prayer, faith and Bible Study whether our institution is in session or not. Do not get wearied or tired, instead enhance the interaction between you and your creator as well as between you and your neighbour. Happy Easter.
