On behalf of Central Executive Council, I wish all Unificationists Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance. I also appreciate you all and thank God Almighty for the success of just concluded 2020 Annual International Sub-Convention. I pray that the blessings of the Sub-Convention shall be permanent in our lives in Jesus name.
Christmas enables us to reflect on the divine, humble and symbolic birth of Jesus (Greek form of Hebrew word that means God/Jehovah will save) some two thousand years ago in Bethlehem. It is also a clarion call for us to pay attention to the message of hope, compassion, salvation, reconciliation, forgiveness and peace that Jesus Christ embodies and conveys to the world.
Though this year 2020 has been full of fear, pandemics, EndSARs, lockdown and economic crisis, yet our hope generated from Christmas has been as light to conquer the darkness we had experienced this year. Therefore, we should stress a sentiment of gratitude and accomplishment because, Ebenezer, unto this end He has helped us. Be assured that in a time like this when people seem too preoccupied with the negativity pervading the news, to remember the many things to be thankful for is to acknowledge how these positive things far outweigh the negativity. Brethren, let us rejoice in the Lord for Christ is born.
I wish to urge you to separate year 2020 Christmas from any sort of worldliness that has taken it hostage and to abhor idolatry in every form as we reflect on the true meaning of Christmas which is the beauty of being loved by God. Our Christmas should be filled with sharing, peace, compassion, joy and thanksgiving. When we do these, we also discover our power to engineer making the world a better place in the New Year.
